God’s Words of Logos and Rhema

God eagerly desires to communicate with us.

Encountering God Is Hearing His Voice

The Distinction Between Logos and Rhema in Hearing God's Voice:

In the New Testament, two Greek words, Logos and Rhema, convey distinct meanings.

Logos: Teaching and General Will. It remains the same forever. Logos represents the Bible we hold, inspired by God.

It embodies God's general will or constant intent on various matters, serving as the ultimate authority on all subjects. Jesus, as the pre-incarnate Jesus, exemplified the Logos.

Rhema: Personalized Guidance and

Personal Counsel

Rhema, in the New Testament, signifies "a spoken word" – the living voice of the Lord delivering His dynamic, personalized message. When articulated by the Holy Spirit, it becomes an instant, specific word that ignites faith in believers, bringing to life God's will for a particular person in a specific situation. Rhema allows God to be intricately and intimately involved in the details of our lives. Rhema is where we experience an intimate connection with God. It allows believers to intimately experientially know and communicate with Him!

Logos is teaching; Rhema is personal counseling.

Comparing Logos and Rhema:

Logos is teaching; Rhema is personal counseling. Logos instructs us on general principles, like being a good spouse or employee. Rhema guides us in specific life choices, such as who to marry, where to live, what profession to pursue, or which company to work for. Rhema is the Holy Spirit's way of "showing things to come," extending beyond the written pages of the Bible (Logos) (John 16:13).

Rhema without Logos:

• Produce off the rails interpretations of what God is saying.

Logos without Rhema:

• Produce totally failed Christian experience

• It is bypassing God's specific help.

Both Logos and Rhema are Essential:

Logos provides the foundation and principles. God uses Logos to convey His Rhema word to us.

Rhema offers immediate and specific guidance, originating within our spirit through the Holy Spirit's prompting, always aligning with God's written Word (Logos).

Logos without Rhema leads to a struggling Christian experience. It is bypassing God's specific help.

The Combination of Logos and Rhema Allows:

1) A depth of connection and responsiveness to God's ongoing interaction.

2) A vibrant, informed, and transformative spiritual journey marked by a continuous dialogue with our Father God.

3) An ability to navigate the complexities of life with liberal wisdom and present-moment direction.

4) Growing a deeper level of trust and reliance on God in discerning God's voice and following His leading in real-time situations. Our path gets brighter and brighter.

God's Preferred Will for Every Detail:

God's revelation He gave me in April 2003 emphasized not only seeking Him in crisis but living with an open heart and abiding with Him, engaging in continual dialogue about everything.

Living by Every Rhema Word:

Just as Jesus emphasized we live by every word (Rhema) that proceeds (not past tense words) from God's mouth, we too listen to our heavenly Father's voice, for it is our spiritual life.

The Power of God's Rhema:

God's word is alive and powerful, penetrating our innermost thoughts and attitudes (Hebrews 4:12).

It provides clarity, direction, and inspiration for our faith journey, transforming us and ensuring we stay on course in fulfilling God's plan. We can live in God’s stream of seamless sanctification!

A Continual Process of Tuning In:

Hearing God's voice and responding to His guidance is an ongoing process of tuning our hearts and minds.

Embracing Divine Dialogue:

Through our dynamic and personal interaction with Father God, we find true life and purpose, as He guides and reveals Himself to us.
